Description
The topic that started it all – period shits.
It was over a glass of much needed Friday wine that we realised how many basic things about being a woman go under-discussed – periods, hormones, iron defciencies, stress. Things our bodies do all the time, that influence and control us daily, yet we need to dig through forums, blogs and inter-generational myths to discover.
Or by having a chat with your gals. So we made the chat public.
What we mentioned in this episode:
PSE= Personal and social education
PMS= Premenstrual syndrom
Francesca mentions a public information announcement which ran on Italian television in 1992 (known in Italian as Pubblicità Progresso) about the use of condoms → Link to video
Hysteria is a 2011 British period romantic comedy about how the medical management of hysteria led to the invention of the vibrator → Link to Wikipedia page
How to prepare for a pap smear test (our recommendations):
1. Ask for a chaperone
2. Negotiate how you can stop the procedure
3. Ask someone you trust to come with you #PapPal
4. Ask to use the smallest speculum first, better to size up later than having to size down
Errata Corrige
Francesca was in Middle School (age 11-14), not primary school when she attended the local library and looked at books about sexual health, but she was 8 when she first learnt about conception
